On Sunday, August 9th, everybody is invited for a day trip to the small beach town of Ubatuba. You can either accompany us on a boat ride through the islands in the Ubatuba bay, or you can stay at the beach and enjoy the sunny weather. Transportation and refreshments will be arranged to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
96Km away from Taubaté, through a windy road down the Serra do Mar mountains, and nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra do Mar State Park Reserve, Ubatuba has over 100 different beaches to sunbathe in. The perfect place to catch a glimpse of Brazilian beach life as the locals make it.
We’ll leave our hotel early in the morning. The drive is between 1.5 and 2 hours down a mountain road. If you have kids, make sure they can take a nap or take a car sickness medication. The windy road is especially hard on the little ones.
We highly recommend that you come with us for the Escuna ride! We are chartering the boat, so we will have it to ourselves, but we understand that boats are not for everyone. If you want to go to the beach but do not want to go on the boat trip with us, the van drivers will drop you off at the Praia Grande, the largest beach in Ubatuba. There you can rest, eat and enjoy the Brazilian vibes. There are plenty of kiosks for food and beach vendors for your souvenir needs.

The Escuna Ride
The Escuna (schooner boat) is a large motored boat used for touristic rides.
We will board at the Itaguá beach in the morning, then we will take the boat around the Bay for about an hour before anchoring at Ilha do Prumirim, a small island with one beach, one natural pool and a small hiking path. We will bring in sandwiches, snacks and refreshments, but you can bring whatever else you want to eat and the island does have one beach kiosk if you want to try the local food.
We can either stay all day at the island or take the long way back and anchor near Ilha das Couves for a dip in the ocean from the boat. We’ll make land again at 5pm back at Itaguá beach where we will get back in the vans and come back home.
