The Hotel and Downtown Taubaté

The Hotel

To keep costs low to our guests with changing conversion rates and price updates at the hotel, we decided to change our hotel block from Olavo Bilac to Gran Carlo Hotel.

Gran Carlo is a smaller, more personal hotel with better breakfast, available dinner service and better public areas for our guests. And by changing hotels we were also able to fully book out the whole hotel so everyone in the building will be a guest for the wedding.

Below are the new room prices we locked for our guests.

The prices in US dollars shown bellow is an approximation based on a R$5.10 to US$1 conversion average (worse than the US$5.60 to R$1 from when we first locked our block in January) and will fluctuate depending on the exchange rate at the time of purchase.

The Hotel also has no check in fees and we already reserved all the rooms for our guests following the information you sent us on our google form. All you have to do is arrive at the hotel and pay for your room, shuttle and boat trip all together during check in.

NOTES:

Hotel Room Types are determined by Head-Count per room, not by number of beds.

There are credit card fees that are applied at check in if you decide to pay with card. To avoid the fee we recommend you convert some currency while still in the states and pay for your package at the hotel in cash.

Downtown

The downtown area is peppered with family business and small shops we recommend you check out if you have the time. Here is map of the area where we will be staying with some points of interest for our schedule or nice spots we think you might like to check or go to grab a bite.

1 - Our old Hotel Block. We are no longer staying here but it is a good safe meeting point in case anybody gets lost.

2 - Santa Terezinha Church. The historical church is located a short walk from the Hotel on its center square surrounded by restaurants and shops. A beautiful gothic touristic spot.

3 - Jeca Bar. Classic Brazilian Decor, drinks and food. Jeca is one of the great spots in town to grab a drink and make some memories.

4 - Pizza Nostra. Needing some nice food? Pizza Nostra is close by and they deliver. Try some classic Brazilian pizza flavors, they can get interesting!

5 - Mc Donalds. You know them. I’m Lovin’ It.

6 - Jarbas Bakery. Bakeries in Brazil are not just bakeries. They are a mix of cafes and bodegas. Jarbas is one of the best in town and you gotta stop by for a sweat treat or a coffee if you have the chance. This is one of Jaala’s favorite spots.

7 - San Francisco das Chagas Cathedral. Built in 1645. It was the building that created the town of Taubaté. A historical landmark in the heart of the commercial downtown Area.

8 - The Downtown Area. Shops and cafes to satisfy your souvenir buying needs.
